City Market, Kansas City

Since we had to have our youngest at the airport by six a.m. we couldn't resist an early morning trip to the city market.......

With one granddaughter and another on the way, plus plenty of acreage, wouldn't this be fun!

One of the things I love about Kansas City is all of the different neighborhoods.  While searching for an antique place we ended up traveling through several......and spotted this sign....


Outside of a dog, man's best friend is a book.  Inside of a dog....it's too dark to read.

I loved this tree with it's roots growing on top of the sidewalk.....



and what every church needs......

it's own credit union next door. 

We never found the antique shop.......

A new painting and yard art

I finished a new painting in my notebook.  With all the projects I have going, I need to take the time to practice and work on basic skills.

Yesterday while on a drive around town with Paul he spotted this tree in someone's yard. 

I love discovering new things in my town!

Surprises from nature

I love it when we find cool surprises in nature.  Paul discovered three small separate species of trees living inside an adult tree.  (Notice I am not naming the species because I don't know them all.)

I love the baby evergreen deep in the center.

I know.  Little things thrill us.

Kitchen herbs and feathered friends

This year I wanted to have some kitchen herbs and a few vegetables easily accessible.  So now, instead of having to walk all the way out and around to the vegetable garden, all I have to do is open my door.  There on my deck are pots of basil, thyme, oregano, rosemary, cilantro, ginger mint, chocolate mint, lavender, nutmeg geranium, lettuce, spinach, and cherry tomatoes.

Isn't it pretty?  I just love seeing it as I come and go.

And I know there is a general rule that you shouldn't feed the birds after winter is over.  But if I didn't, I wouldn't have some of my favorites right out of my kitchen window!
