Spring is on the way!

Random Art

I love it when beauty and design shows itself in random places. On my walk, eyes on the road, unplanned and unexpected art was spotted. How lucky is that!

And more luck occurred this morning when two coyotes ran in front of my car on my drive into work. I’ve never seen them so up close and personal.

Sweetheart Tree

This is the Valentine I made for Olivia. It's her own little sweetheart tree! We have her for a slumber party this weekend. Valentine cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, and a special movie, plus all the other little games of hide and seek, ashes, and tickle chases. Grandparenting is the BEST!!

Superstitions

Just as I was about to turn into my parking place at work, a black cat darted out from the Methodist Church directly crossing in front of my car. Sometimes when this happens I pretend it wasn't meant for me. But this time there's no mistaking it, I nearly hit it.

Then, while standing in the office chatting with co-workers I spotted this tiny little die. After I picked it up and had it in my hands my co-worker said it was probably a sign of bad luck. Yuck! Just to be safe I tossed it back on the floor.

When there seems to be

When there seems to be bad news everywhere I try to remind myself that unfortunately bad things aren’t an anomaly. Throughout history, tragedies occur and the world goes on. But the news from Haiti continues to be horrific. This morning’s second earthquake hit some twenty miles from Port au Prince. Last night I watched orphans land in Pittsburg and nurses from KU preparing to leave. I’ve never wished more that I possessed some skills and resources that would be helpful. Thank God for people who rush toward disasters to help.

And while it’s certainly not a tragedy, I want to acknowledge the end of an era with the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts. Yes, the headlines are heavy.

Illusionist

I'm pretty sure I remember earlier times during the presidential election season when several television news magazine interviews aired with John Edwards and his family. I would never want to endure the things Elizabeth Edwards has endured; the loss of a son, terminal cancer, and then her husband’s affair. Today her husband finally publicly admitted to what most of us already suspected. He fathered a child with his mistress. Why is it that so often those who proclaim virtue the loudest we later find out are in reality the weakest?
