Easter projects
Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. I was busy up to the last moment making the girls' rabbits and baskets. Here's a peak.....
Olivia's has the body of the Mimi Kirchner pattern on Purl Bee and then I just winged the head....

I felt a little like the movie, Coraline.
Lily's needed to be something that could go straight into her mouth....and it did.
I made the baskets from grocery bags and then cascarones from our eggs!!
Every holiday fiesta should have a little confetti!
And in the background, homemade chocolate covered marshmallows and....
this carrot garden cake. I made it all the time when my kids were little. What a joy to bring it back for our grand kids. A considerable amount of work but well worth it!

Baby boomers and style
This morning on the Today show they did a story about how baby boomers are defining style.
Meet 90 year-old Iris Apfel, the new face of MAC. Truly a woman with style.
The two other guests in the segment were Donnie Deutch, an expert on media, and Valerie Ramsey; a gorgeous 72 year old model and author of Gracefully: Looking and Being your Best at any Age.
But, another name for this post could be: "one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong.
Yesterday while shopping with my daughters we noticed a girl following us around on the street. She stopped us and asked if she could interview me for her column, Style Scout, in the Lawrence Journal World:

Clearly a misfit, and such a silly coincidence. I can only hope and pray that I look as fantastic as these two women do when I am their age. Pretty good role models I think!

Sewing gifts for grandbabies
I needed a shower gift for our first grandson; and I needed a birthday gift for our first granddaughter who turned four yesterday. It would figure that both parties were on the same weekend, leading to a month of sewing and knitting.
Daddy of baby boy may be an air traffic controller, but deep down he wants to be a film maker. That and the fact that they just moved to California made me think of a movie themed crib quilt.....
And something seen and copied from Pinterest, I knitted him a little football sleep sack.....
And for the four-year-old who really only appreciates things pink, I made her a pink dream book she can literally get between the pages of.....
It was intense, but I survived, sort of.

Seeing Barbie in Art
About 8 years ago I saw a Tippi Hedren doll from the movie The Birds in a catalogue. I loved her, and being me I decided rather than buying one I would make her myself.
So imagine my delight when I stumbled across the work of french artist, Jocelyne Grivaud.
